 Re: The League
Hi folks
I dont mind if we change armies during the league, I see Paul's point about it getting stale. Maybe we could stick to the same list but repick within it?
My forces will be British - Viller-Bocage - Armoured Squadron and German - Hammer and sickle - Sperrverband.
I dont think my son Sam knew it was late war when he said he would use his Italians. He is searching for any late war Italian units on either side!
Cheers - Glenn

 Re: The League
Is this an indefinite ladder then? If so thats a different kettle of fish altogether!
I was looking at it as a short term ladder, maybe 3 months then reset it.
Im doing my absolute best to get DnD rearranged so I can come every week now.
Its all Work in progress but great news for Stafford Games and the players!

 Re: The League
I'm new to FOW so don't have the vast experience of some of you on how this could work the best but here is my hapeney worth anyway.
I think I'm saying the same as Ramowar in that if you pick two forces i.e axis or alies, so that you have a chance of playing someone you would not normally play because you only had one force for instance. And then change say one platoon within that force the next time you play if things didn't work out as you planned. That way I'm it may not get stale and complicated. As long as you know what you are up against, and agreed, before you play its a fair fight I say. And after all its only fun.
The question someone put is that some people don't have two forces due to expense etc. as in my case. So would it be possible to have a pool of stuff that people could borrow to form a force, I'm willing to lend my stuff out.
Sorry snake3yes I don't know how this would work out in your spreadsheet if at all but hey I like just poking my nose in and making things awkward. lol
just a thought

 Re: The League
Guys all the discussion is good and points made are also same I like to see few games played first to see if there as much uptake as shown. Just to clear things up. You may play in league with 2 armies one axis one allied you do not play axis v axis or vice versa and you can change the makeup of your force from game to game as long as it within 600pts or less and from BF book or BF PDF. Hope this helps

 Re: The League
Hi Roland
As you can challenge upwards, I think my Germans are the next axis army above you in our random start positions. If you ruskies are man enough my Sperrverband will be waiting for you on Wednesday!!

 Re: The League
Spreadsheet wont work for whats been set up so better to treat it like a squash ladder. What would be really cool if we could put a board up at the shop with the ladder on it, everyones names bluetacked in their positions and then we can move it around straight after each game

 Re: The League
Could I ask for clarification about how armies are meant to be composed please? My reading was they had to be a legal HQ and a legal combat platoon (I presumed from the same organisation) plus whatever weapons and supports you could massage from the points. Please dont take this as sour grapes - John squashed me fair and sqaure and if i had concerns about his army I should have said up front. Johns army was an HQ of two Panthers, an 88mm platoon, and an MG platoon. I cant find any company with an HQ of Panthers that does not have to have tanks as its combat platoon, generally they have to be Panthers too. Have i missed something? there are a couple of late war Russian front books that i dont have. Cheers Glenn

 Re: The League
Not 100% sure but I believe you are right most if not all Tank units require a HQand combat of same type.
The best thing to do is ask John what book he was using as not many have them all I have most and could check.

 Re: The League
Ah are we saying that you must have a HQ AND a core platoon from that type? ie infantry company you must take the HQ and an infantry platoon, A tank company a tank HQ and a tank platoon etc?
My reading was a HQ a platoon (any type) from an organisation and then anything else from same list or support/divisional?

 Re: The League
From the other thread: "Armies MUST include an HQ and at least 1 compulsory platoon" Peltast & "each army must have HQ and 1 combat platoon and then anything else you can fit it." zeltec
From MRB p185, 600 point battles: "A company HQ and a single combat platoon is all that is required in any force..."
The key to this is to bring a written list for the night and a copy of the source book or PDF.
Regards,
Paul
